During the week of June 2 - 7, 2024, the Jump Start College Experience offered by the Willie and Vivian Gaddis Foundation traveled over 1600 miles in 6 days to visit seven colleges and universities with 44 youth scholars consisting of 7 freshmen, 15 sophomores, 20 juniors, and 2 middle schoolers.
The Jump Start College Experience provides Central Ohio youth with tools and resources to navigate through high school to college by researching and visiting colleges and universities and participating in college access programming. In the weeks leading to the actual tour student scholars explore topics designed to enhance and promote personal development and college choices if that is their path. This vein continues while on the road as we explore colleges and universities, visit historical sites, and dine at black-owned businesses to promote entrepreneurship.
